Why does it feel like some days take forever and others fly by?

Yesterday at work it felt like the day took forever to get through. Today it is flying by. I am just as busy as I was yesterday as I am today but today is flying by and yesterday felt like forever. I’m not looking at the clock anymore than I normally would so just wondering what it is about this that makes me feel like the day goes by faster.

For me it’s usually the proportion of the day I spend in a “flow state” aka being hyperfocused on the task at hand. Time flies by when I’m in flow.

Time perception is a weird thing.

They say that you feel like the time is going faster now compared to when you were a kid is because you have way less new experiences.

Extending that to your example, maybe yesterday’s schedule was filled with dreaded tasks, a lot of uncertainty that made you rethink each step, concentrate more on each task etc etc.

But today, although you are as busy meetings wise, they are in your comfort zone
