It’s mostly perception. When you’re 3 feet tall someone who is 6 feet tall is literally twice your height, but once you are in high school you are the same as other high schoolers.

A good example of this is sports. The short guy in these three pictures: [picture 1](https://bostonglobe-prod.cdn.arcpublishing.com/resizer/WecjSbS4TfXneVeZedF7O_ds3rY=/1440×0/arc-anglerfish-arc2-prod-bostonglobe.s3.amazonaws.com/public/4EWVXODD24I6NK722OCJSXTUWA.jpg), [picture 2](https://wmoa1490.com/lib/sitefiles/cavaliers.jpg), [picture 3](https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/fetch/c_fill,g_auto,f_auto,h_389,w_590/https%3A%2F%2Fhardwoodhoudini.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fusat-images%2F2017%2F01%2F9819457-nba-new-york-knicks-at-boston-celtics-850×560.jpeg) is named Isaiah Thomas. Isaiah Thomas is 5’9″ (175 cm) tall, the average height for an American man, yet, because he plays in a sport where the average player is 6’7″, he looks tiny.
