Your ears are connected to your brain which has many many years of adjusting to sensory input and giving responses. Not all of this is conscious.

This question is suprising good. First you think “Duh, cause it makes you feel things, cause…” before realising you don´t have satisfying answer to this at all.

I actually found an article, may not be at the level of a 5 year old, but I found it pretty easy to understand.

Additionaly another explanation I read, was that a singing voice mimics certain tones we make while speaking and displaying a specific emotion. According to that theory, humans inherently understand those differences in pitch, much like we inherently understand what it means when someone is crying or laughing
