Basically, when you speak, you hear both what comes out your mouth, and the sounds coming direct from the voice box, so your getting a different channel of sound that everyone else gets.

Our own voice sounds deeper because of bone conduction, the soundwaves are also travelling through your bones instead of only air (bone conduction headphones based on this principle exist). In a recording its only via air.

This is an excellent question. I don’t mind hearing my own voice but I hate hearing it on playback. I wonder if that’s normal as well?
