This is mostly psychological phenomenon. The more “exposed” you are (exposed to elements, exposed to unsafe environment), more parts of your brain will try to stay active and alert to warn you of any threats to your well being while you are resting.

The more barriers you have between yourself and a perceived dangerous environment, more relaxed your brain will feel. E.g. you will psychologically feel “more safe” in a pillow fort / tent even if you place it inside your bedroom. A tightly wrapped blanket will also provide that feeling of safety and security (e.g. see newborn babies wrapped tightly in blankets). Hence more relaxed sleep.

There is a biological mechanism that explains this. Pressure calms you by activating your parasympathetic nervous system, which lowers your heart rate and blood pressure. The lower heart rate and blood pressure leads to the overall feeling of calmness.
