The bubbles in soda are made by dissolving carbon dioxide in liquid under high pressure, when you relieve the pressure by opening its container that’s when the bubbles begin popping and fizzing. The pain you feel when drinking it is because of an enzyme in our mouths that converts the carbon dioxide into carbonic acid, thus triggering pain receptors.
