why does the air conditioner cold feel so different from “normal” cold?

Ac technician chiming in. As the air passes through the evaporator coil it is compressing the air to remove humidity. Enthalpy is the name of the game to have you’re system working to it’s full performance. Down here in Florida humidity control is huge for the comfort of the home.
