Why does the cold weather raise our blood pressure, and just how big can the change be?

Not a Dr., but from what I’ve learned your blood thickens in the winter, which makes it harder for your heart to pump it around. Plus, your heart needs to pump faster if you’re out in the cold to keep your extremities from freezing.
