Intramuscular injections (IM) have to go in a muscle large enough for the amount of medication being delivered. I forget what the exact amounts are, but it could be that .5 cc can go in deltoid (arm), while 1 cc would have to go ventrogluteal (hip).

Out of curiosity, is there a location you would prefer to the arm? Most people prefer it.
