When you’re busy, you pay less attention to events which mark the passage of time. Without these cues, we remain unaware of time’s passage until we finally notice the time once more.
Your brain is only able to pay attention to one thing at a time. If you are busy, you are having to pay attention to the task at hand. This means you are not paying attention to things like the passage of time.
