So according to [this article](https://www.pbs.org/newshour/science/weed-makes-super-hungry-according-science), cannabinoids and THC specifically, causes a part of your brain, the hypothalamus, that normally signals that you’re full with endogenously (self-produced) cannabinoids to, more or less, no longer respond to those and instead, they make your brain think that you’re hungry.

[Another article](https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/scientific-explanation-how-marijuana-causes-munchies-180949660/) also suggests that THC binds to parts of your brains [olfactory bulb](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olfactory_bulb), the part that’s mainly responsible for taste and smell. The article goes onto say that, in regards to the part about the hypothalamus, that it stimulates the production of a [neurochemical called ghrelin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghrelin), which is responsible for sending hunger signals.
