Why doesnt a geiger counter get destroyed by the radiation, while everything else does?

Just watched Chernobyl and saw how “everything” electrical got destroyed from the radiation, but not the geiger counters. Why it that?

Geiger counters are designed to detect radiation, not absorb it. They are made with materials that can withstand exposure to radiation without breaking down. Other electronics, on the other hand, are not designed to handle high levels of radiation and can become damaged or destroyed.
