What is business is Facebook in?
You might be surprised to learn Facebook is in the business of collecting data on its users and selling that to advertisers.
That’s how companies like Facebook, Twitter, Google, and Youtube make money.
Why does Facebook provide a log in API that other websites can use? To collect you user information from those websites as well.
They build a profile for each of it’s users based on what they post, what they like, and what they watch and then use that information to sell advertising space to advertisers.
The problem is you are so used to the ads that you ignore them. But start paying attention and look at the sites and you’d be surprised who many ads pop up. Aside from ads that intterupt Youtube videos, social media ads are designed to be unintrusive and subconcious.
I still get a ton, and I even use an ad blocker.
