Why/How does a new car have that fresh/new car scent during the first few uses? Why cant any form of cleaning/detailing (whether from the best car wash/detailer there is or the in-house wash/detailing of the manufacturer/dealer) replicate or restore it?

Most of it is off gassing plastics, glues etc.

Another overlooked part is that it has no filth in it.

No dirt, no dust, no fries, nothing. The complete and total absence of smell due to cleanliness, and a special blend of production vapors.

Even if you could emulate the new car smell, its not gonna be the same in a car that isn’t also showroom clean
