Why/How does ASMR cause tingles?

There hasnt been a whole lot of research, but there is some evidence that the same areas of the brain responsible for the asmr effect are the same as those associated with grooming, being cared for, and affectionate interactions. I think of it as the aural equivalent of cuddling.
