Basically the title. How come YT barely needs to buffer and has a more stable connection comoared to WiFi? Does it depend on the router as well?

Cellular providers spent billions of dollars for dedicated spectrum to run their 4G networks in. The benefit of cleaner spectrum is that they can run much more precise protocols on dedicated hardware. LTE basestations a millions of dollars a piece & the protocol wouldn’t work well in a noisy frequency band.

WiFi on the other hand runs in unlicensed bands, mixed in with bluetooth, microwave ovens, drones, and your neighbors’s WiFi. Plus it runs on hardware that only costs $150. The protocol has to be much more robust to interference, which degrades performance somewhat.
