Why is cold water or ice water more refreshing than lukewarm water or hot water? Why do humans prefer cold water to hot water even though hot water still hydrates us?

* Think back to before we had a modern infrastructure that can bring water right to our home.
* We got water from somewhere outside.
* Water that sits around and gets warm in the sun is also loaded with bacteria that can kill us.
* Water that is moving doesn’t get the change and most water that is moving comes from an underground source and is relatively cool.
* So over the years humans that liked warm water died from it and humans that liked cold water lived long enough to have kids.
* Now we all like cold water.
