Why is getting both insoluble and soluble fiber important? What would happen if someone only ate food that contained one and barely the other for a prolonged period of time?

My understanding is that soluble fiber mainly helps keep your cholesterol and blood sugar under control and insoluble fiber mainly helps you poop.

Insoluble fiber might not be as necessary if you have a very low cholesterol diet to begin with, but you’re pretty much guaranteed to get really hard shits/constipation if you have a very low insoluble fiber diet.
