Water has a weird property where if you add pressure to it ice (e.g step on or crush it) it turn back into a liquid, which makes you slip.

Ice is slippery because given enough weight/pressure or warm enough temperatures it’ll form a thin layer of water over the surface. It’s this layer of water that makes it slippery. Try it out. Most ice isn’t actually that slippery on really really cold days because it stays dry.

Alternatively spray a thin layer of water on a glass surface and see how slick it becomes.
