Why is it easier to cut nails after a shower?

I think it’s because your nails soften up after they come in contact with hot water. I always cut my nails after showering.

Your nails absorb some of the water, making them softer and more easily to be cut or torn because now the layers of keratin that make up your nails are further apart and less structurally sound. It also means that they’re more flexible too. Your skin absorbs water as well, which eventually gets absorbed into your blood. It’s not much though.
