Why is it harder to hear our voices inside airplanes?

A few reasons.

1. Planes have engines. These engines are really loud.

2. They aren’t pressurised to sea level. A Jetliner will pressurise to to same pressure you’d get at about 8,000 feet. If your ears don’t equalise to this pressure then the inner ear doesn’t work like it should. It’s the same as when you go up a mountain and you feel your ears block.
