why is it so difficult to use scissors in a mirror/reflection?

Same reason the [reverse bike](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MFzDaBzBlL0) is so hard. These “easy tasks” are done by muscle memory. In fact they are not easy at all, and by reversing what you see you are forcing your brain to start from scratch. Watch a 2 year old use scissors.
Because the image will be reversed – if you move the scissors right, it looks like they moved left, and that contradiction makes everything more difficult
