Weeds can easily grow, while the kentucky blue grass or any grass seeds can be very difficult to maintain, and need fertilizers et al. every year. Why?

Survival, weeds are better at living and reproducing with less resources. Grasses can be maintained fairly easily as long as conditions are ideal for them to thrive and become thick enough to naturally block out weeds.
