Why is it that when we spin for a while, we feel as if we were still spinning for a few moments after stopping?

Because the fluid in your ear (the vestibular system) are still moving if you aren’t

On the opposite end, if you spin less than 2° per second your vestibular system won’t register it

That’s how spinning restaurants are able to exist and most people not get upset

You can try this experiment yourself. Put water in a container like a coffee mug and float an object in the water. Hold this container as you spin. If you see the floating object spinning relative to the mug then your brain is registering it as spinning motion.
