why is so much boomer humor about hating your wife/ kids?

Pretty simple. Boomers grew up in an era steeped in misogyny and so-called traditional households. They resent having to take on child care and household duties. Marriage to many of them is more about having someone to cook, clean, and raise kids while you “provide for and protect” the household and family. Hence, many of them actually resent their kids and wives.
