Because there are virtually no particles to drag on. In a planet’s atmosphere, even though you can’t see them in the air, there are tons and tons and tons of atoms and molecules and matter flying around that mean you have to use force of some kind to move them it.

In space, you don’t have that. It’s just nothingness, for the most part.
