When you’re exercising, your sweat is evaporating and cooling you down – this is how it’s supposed to work. You’re also in the frame of mind where you expect to sweat.

When it’s very humid, you sweat but the sweat doesn’t evaporate effectively (high level of moisture in the air) so you just keep sweating, feel hot and sticky etc. Your sweat isn’t cooling you down effectively.

When you’re in social situations, people often sweat due to anxiety instead of heat. People also sweat due to heat in social situations but you’re in a situation where you aren’t really wanting or expecting to sweat. Sweat gets associated with body odour and we’ve been effectively trained that that is a BAD thing. Finally, people tend to wear different clothes when in social situations, compared to excersize. Most clothes don’t dry as quickly as athletic gear.
