Why is the skin considered an organ?

Recently read a fact that skin is the largest organ on the human body, while I had my bets on the liver. How does the skin qualify to be an organ?

Liver is largest internal organ. Organs just associated groups of tissues doing *a certain job*, so skin is largest organ by size.

It is a collection of tissues working together to perform a specialized function. That is an organ.

An organ is a collection of tissues that performs a specific function. What else would you call skin? It’s literally the dictionary definition.
