why it’s so hard to make shampoo bars and conditioner bars that are just as good as the bottled liquids. It seems to me like it should be just as simple as not adding water.

It’s not hard but it’s not practical. A pre-made liquid is easily applied to hair down to the scalp. Even dry shampoos come in powder form for this reason.

As someone who uses a shampoo bar….. its not? What exactly makes you think the liquid is so much better?

A couple of things:

1) Liquid shampoos can contain things that are liquid at room temperature or drying would damage like plant oils, root extracts as well as some liquid chemicals that help it foam, clean, and stay fresh.

2) Even if the only liquid the shampoo requires is water, rehydrating takes time, and also surface area both of which don’t really work ideally in a bar form.
