why music seems to change pace based on how awake or tired you are.

It’s been a while, but I’ve noticed in the past that when I’m sleep deprived songs I’m familiar with seem to play at a different pace (I think faster). Why does this happen? What is actually occurring in the brain?

When you’re tired, your brain’s perception of music can change because of how neurons process information. This can make songs seem faster or slower than they actually are.
