Why must some medications be taken at night?

I’ve taken several medication, and some specify to take it at night. Some are drowsy inducing so I could understand that point, but not all. Why does the time of day matter?

You’re correct most night time meds may cause drowsiness so best if taken at night. Or cause other side effects that are less noticeable if you sleep throughout it. Others like cholesterol meds are best at night because the body naturally makes cholesterol at night so that’s the best time to take a med to lower cholesterol. Varies med to med.
