Why snow is formed in some places, and doesn’t form in another places?

Too things needed for snow: cold and water. And by water I mean moisture in the air. In warm weather, when enough moisture gathers together in a cloud it forms rain. In cold weather, that same cloud of moisture will forms snow.

I think you probably understand why some places are colder than others based on the equator, but it is important to also point out elevation. As you get farther from the center of the earth it gets colder, so the tops of mountains will be colder allowing snow, while the bottom of the mountain could get rain.

As to why some places have lots of precipitation (general term for rain or snow) and others do not is a much longer, complex, discussion. But just know that based on where some places are located, some places have tons of moisture in the air, getting tons of precipitation, while others get almost no precipitation.
