Why the runtime of songs have increased drastically over these past few decades.

Listening to older music from the 60’s, songs spanned at most to around mid 2 minute ranges. Now it’s common to see them 4 to 5 minutes.
Please refrain from citing songs over that mark that I’m referring to as I’m aware if the few exceptions.

But then again, this is more in the genre of pop songs. Other music in that era could have longer versions for live play etc. So what we know of “runtime” of songs for radio/vinyl in the 45 singles is not the same for LPs.
