Why video compression cant be loseless like a programs


We dont have enough good algorithms or this is about physical limits?

It’s about practicality.

We could easily make video compression loseless, but by allowing some loss in the compression we can make video considerably smaller.

Smaller video means less bandwidth, and less physical space to store it.
