We are pre-disposed to find things that could poison us or be dangerous `disgusting ` or `frightening `. This is because in the past our ancestors discovered that such things were ` bad` for us. We retain such memories either genetically or through learned behaviour from our peers, siblings or parents.

Evolution. Let’s say we take a bite out of some fruit. It’s yummy. We turn it over, and realize it is riddled with maggots or rotten or something. We vomit it out, and so anything bad we may have eaten has likely just been rejected from our system.
