why are football (soccer) fields checkered with grass of different shades of green?

I assume it’s for easier division of the field, for what area players have to position and to briefly measure shots, and also for casters to tell an offside before checking the live cams

The only reasons I can think of are these:

Helps the referees decide whether a player was offside or not.

If there is a foul it helps the referee estimate where it took place exactly, in case he was farther away.

It looks cool on cameras.

The grass is cut before the match, the roller on the mower pushes the grass in one direction or the other depending upon which direction the mower is travelling. The groundsman can come up with creative patterns created by the roller effect and some take pride in doing some innovative patterns.
