Science can’t fully explain why *anything* “feels like” anything (what it’s like to eat a strawberry, smash your thumb with a hammer, etc.). In other words, although we understand how nerves turn rubbing or pressure into nerve signals, we don’t understand why the activity of parts of the brain results in experiencing anything. We haven’t cracked the (famous within philosophy) “mind-body problem” yet.
Ask this in the (probably far) future and maybe you can get an answer. But as of today, it’s a baffling mystery.
