Eli5: Pointy end of a hammer

I know there are hammers for additional use like the once for pulling wood closer or lifting a nail out but i have no idea why there is that flat pointy end on a normal hammer

If you mean the one that looks really useless, I used it twice in a lifetime, to bend or straighten metals. If you hammer something concave and round, the square-section front of the hammer will leave awful dents in the metal. But yeah, feels so useless. Even a whistle would have been a better tool for the second side of that hammer. I mean it works but it’s so niche.
