Back part (occipital lobes) processes vision, back middle part (parietal lobes) processes touch/nerve impulses, front middle part (temporal lobes) processes auditory information and controls speech processing along with memory, front part (frontal lobe) is your personality and executive functioning/thinking. Then you have your reptile brain (brain stem, cerebellum, thalamus, hypothalamus) controls balance/movement, autonomic functions (heart, breathing, swallowing your spit while you sleep), fight or flight, etc.

Will gladly take correction if I’m wrong on any of these.

Uh, eli5’d

there are two pathways, efferent and afferent.

Efferent is responsible for muscle and hormonal control of the body, Afferent is the information provided to the brain by sensory organs, and receptors.
