Eli5: what is the stringy white coloured thing that hangs out an egg yoke and the brown spot in the egg yoke? I fear the response may put me off eating them…?

The white stringy thing is the chalaza. It anchors the yolk to the white and keeps it from moving around. It disappears if the egg is no longer fresh. Brown spots are considered flaws in the egg (at least in American eggs) and are not allowed in the highest grade. it is generally a blood spot formed in the making of the egg.
