Seizures are a result of uncontrolled electrical signals in the brain and there are so many reasons that can happen. Nearly any kind of neurological malfunction that becomes severe enough will turn into a seizure of one kind or another.

because most (all?) developmental disorders have a neurological origin. brain tissue is remarkably sensitive and any damage causes it to do weird things. seizures can be the brain’s way to “reset” itself as a response to damage. if the damage is too severe, the seizure reset doesn’t work, so the brain tries again. this is how you get disease-induced epilepsy.
