How can it take over a minute for hot water to travel from the tank to my faucet?

There’s actually a minimum diameter by plumbing code for pipes. I think it’s to avoid them getting clogged by buildup of lime scale?. Smaller pipes mean less cold water to flush out before you get hot. Have a coworker who replumbed hot water to his sink with 1/4” tube for fast hot water, but again. Definitely not to code.
