How did ancient landlocked people and tribes get the necessary sodium for their diets?

I know that there are some dead seas where people mined the salt, but that’s rare.

A healthy adult needs between 200mg and 500mg of sodium per day.

One average-length raw carrot has about 60mg of sodium.
One stalk of broccoli, about 80mg of sodium.
One medium bell pepper, about 40mg of sodium.

You get the idea.

Salt trade is some of the oldest trades in the world.

Also, some people simply didn’t get enough salt

its not the salt you specifically need, but Sodium instead which you can get in most agricultural based diets.

however As other comments state salt trading is one of the oldest trades in existence a s it was a commodity required to preserve food.
