Insects don’t have a large lens focused on their retinas like humans do. So the sun never focuses all the light into one spot. They have compound eyes so the sunlight gets scattered across their eye. Think of how if you shine sunlight through a magnifying glass it can be used to set paper on fire but if you do something like a segmented glass, it scatters the light on the other side across the floor instead of in one spot.
