How do mail carriers do their job?

USPS mail carriers have giant bags filled with mail. How do they just reach into their bag and know which mail they’re grabbing? For how much they deliver I feel like they don’t make a lot of mistakes. And then they grab more mail?? It hurts my brain

As a formal letter carrier. At the post office they have the streets as sorting bins (each house has a bin), so after everything is sorted they grab the mail for each home and place it on their bag or the larger bags which go to those weird green mail boxes (these are drop off locations for walking carriers) so when the bag is empty, there is a box close by to get the organized mail to continue the route
