How do mothers carrying more than three babies survive?

118 viewsBiologyOther

From what I know the baby takes much of the nutrients such as calcium from the mother, so how do mothers that have 5, 6 or, even eight babies (at once) not die? Even with appropriate healthcare I saw a diagram of what a single baby does to a woman’s guts and it’s all shifted— my mother could barely breathe carrying me.

Modern medicine. Doctors can make sure the mummy’s and the babies are looked after. Before that they happened, but a lot more often some of the babies or the mummies weren’t there anymore.
