How do painkillers know where to target pain?

You see on packages sometimes like Nurofen for example that their pills will target your pain and I’ve always wondered how your body knows where to deliver the painkillers to in your body? I had a random ache last night and I took some paracetamol and it eventually stopped the pain but I wondered how it knew where to go!

Answer: It doesn’t, it works through your whole body but you only feel the effects where you have pain. The claim that it targets your pain is just a sales pitch/marketing thing.
