How does giving computing power work? How does a computer from hundreds of miles away give it’s computing power to another computer?

It’s like outsourcing math problems. You have a big complex problem to solve, and it would be quicker if you hired someone else to help you with it. So you send them some of it and they work on their part while you work on yours and they send their answer when they’re done.
