Egg from mother is extracted and introduced to the sperm of the father for insemination. This is done “in vitro” or literally “in glass” ie in a test tube. Then the inseminated egg is reimplanted in the mother (usually donor of the egg). In the case of surrogate gestation, the inseminated egg is implanted into a woman who did not donate the egg.
