IVF works by artificially helping the sperm and the egg reach each other and combine into a zygote (which can eventually grow into a baby). And then inserting that fertilized egg, or zygote, back into the uterus.
Essentially doctors take egg samples and sperm samples from the people who are trying to have a baby.
They place eggs on multiple Petri dishes, then place sperm on them, and then use a microscope to zoom in and see what eggs and spent successfully combined into a zygote.
One or a few is then placed back Into the uterus to get the zygote to implant into the uteruses wall, and the rest are kept in storage Incase it doesn’t work and they need to try again.
